This Uganda luxury safari will take you to some of the National Parks. It will start from wildlife viewing in Murchison Falls National Park to Lake Mburo National Park as detailed in this article.
If you fly to Uganda in the evening, upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be dropped off to No.5 boutique hotel by our representative from Nature Adventure Africa Safaris for dinner and overnight stay.
The following morning after having breakfast, you will embark on your journey to Murchison Falls National Park via Nakasongola having a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary the only place which houses white rhinos. Here you will have a trek for rhinos and after have some snacks before proceeding to New Court View Hotel where you will have your lunch.
After lunch, you proceed to Murchison Falls National Park and have a chance to stop by the top of the falls where you can see the beauty of Nile. After exploring the top of the falls, you can check in Nile Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Early in the morning, you will go for a wildlife game drive on the banks of River Nile where you will spot the big five such as lions, leopards, elephants and buffaloes plus other animals like hyena, water buck, oribi, bohor reedbuck, hartebeest, Rothschild’s giraffe among others. Then return back to the hotel for breakfast and rest as your waiting for lunch.
After lunch, you can go for a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile where you will marvel at the swimming hippos and you will also spot the Nile crocodiles plus some bird species such as the rare shoebill stork, kingfishers, fish eagles, cormorant, Egyptian goose among others and then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
The following morning after having your breakfast, you will be drive to Kabale National Park via fort portal and you will pass through the interesting landscapes, green countryside, traditional homesteads among others. You will have your lunch in fort portal and then proceed for a visit to Amabere Ganyina Mwiru.
Amabere Ganyina Mwiru is a cultural site with remarkable history located in western Uganda in Fort portal town. Amabere Ganyina Mwiru is a rock and it came up as a result of formation of stalagmites and stalactites information which were left for people to enjoy the cultural stories attached to this cave or rock. This rock is nestled between several trees and beautiful water falls. From this cultural site, you can also have a hike to Nyakasura hill (in case when you have time) which will give you views of 3 different crater lakes.
Fron the cultural site, you will continue with your journey to Kibale National Park. Upon your arrival in Kibale National Park, you will check in Papaya Lake Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Wake up on a cup of tea and head Kibale National Park’s information center for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. After briefing, you will start a primate nature walk to start searching for chimpanzees and on the way, you may also get a chance of seeing other primates such as red colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey among others.
The park ranger or guide will be available to give you detailed explanation about the primates and other and fauna and flora found in the forest. The ranger will make sure that you get an enjoyable and informative primate nature walk.
After finding the chimpanzees, you will spend 1 hour with them watching them in their natural habitat before heading back to the offices to get your trekking certificates. Go back to lodge for lunch and refreshments. After lunch, you will go for bird watching in Bigodi wetland sanctuary. This sanctuary is a home of the great blue Turaco bird and is endowed with about 200 bird species and around 8 primate species. After the activity, you can return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will be drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and on the way, you will be able to view mystical Rwenzori Mountain range. Upon the arrival you will check in Kyambura Gorge Lodge for refreshments as you wait for lunch. After lunch, you will go for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. Here you be able to see animals drinking water at the edges such as the hippos and the Nile crocodiles. Boat cruise offers great opportunities for photography and bird watching. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Very in the morning you can choose to go for another chimpanzee trekking (only when you have another the second chimpanzee trekking permit in Kyambura gorge). Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge is very demanding because it involves hiking up and down a valley. You might also need to follow the primates for long periods once you reach down the gorge. One needs to be fit to complete the activity without much strain on the body.
The chances of seeing chimpanzees in this region is not high as it is in Kibale National Park. When you find these chimpanzees, you will be 1 hour to stay with them and later return to the hotel for lunch. You can later go for a night game drive where you will be able to explore the park at night with armed ranger guides and spotlight torches for clear viewing of nocturnal animals which become active at night.
For night game drives, visitors are advised to move with insect repellent in order to prevent them from being bitten by insects that can be attracted by torch spotlights. This activity is sometimes done after dinner at around 8pm though others may choose to first go the activity and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
The following morning you will head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Ishasha sector where you may get a chance to spot the rare climbing lions. Later you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park passing through the Kigezi highlands known as Switzerland of Africa. The journey will take you through the terraced hills and winding roads to the Bwindi Forest. You have lunch enroute. Upon your arrival, you will check in Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Have your breakfast and go for a briefing at the information center where you will be given the guidelines about gorilla trekking. Gorilla trekking is always done in groups where individuals at the center are divided into 8 members and then enter the jungle.
Gorilla trekking is done by hiking through the forest and once the giants are located, visitors are given 1 hour to watch them in their natural habitat and also given an opportunity to take photos. Gorilla trekking take about 4-5 hours. After trekking you will return back to the office for certification and later go for lunch in the lodge.
After lunch, you will go for Batwa cultural experience. The Batwa are the people who used to stay in this park’s forest until when they got where to stay. During this visit they will narrate you on how they used hunt and gather fruits for a living. On your lucky day, you may get a chance to present to you their cultural dances. After that cultural visit, you will return to lodge for dinner.
After your breakfast, you will be driven to Lake Bunyonyi for leisure in Kabale. You will have a stopover in Kabale town for lunch before proceeding to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is located in Kigezi region and is the deepest lake in Uganda with more than 20 islands such as Akampene and Bwama island. On your reaching, you will enjoy swimming and the remaining hours you will spend them relaxing and later check in Arcadia Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
The whole day is dedicated to relaxation and afternoon boat cruise on some of the islands along the lake. Lake Bunyonyi is a perfect base for bird watching and relaxing. After getting enough relaxation, return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will be driven to Lake Mburo National Park. You will have a stopover in Mbarara for lunch and later visit Igongo cultural center. At Igongo cultural center you will learn and experience the culture of the Banyankore people and then proceed to Lake Mburo National Park. On arrival, check in Mihingo Lodge for leisure as your waiting for dinner.
In the morning, you will go for a game drive in the park where you will spot many animals and bird species. The park is known for zebras, impalas, buffaloes, hippos, topi and elands. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise and you will be able to spot hippos. Later you will return back to the lode to start preparing for the next day’s journey.
Embark on your journey to Kampala. On your way to Kampala, you will have a stopover at Mpigi Royal Drum makers where you will witness the making of ceremonial drums using methods passed down for many generations. You may also get a chance to stop at Equator for photographs and later proceed to Entebbe International Airport to catch up with your flight and that will be the end of your luxury trip.
