The Karibuni Eco-Cottages was established in 2009 by Team Kenya; a UK charity based in Newcastle that works in partnership with rural communities in Kenya to promote and support sustainable development.
Having welcomed many international visitors to the small town of Ndhiwa, the compound comprises of affordable accommodation and a restaurant and provides rooms for both individuals and groups. Ablution facilities are communal and comprise of hot water showers and toilets.
The Karibuni Eco- Cottages are also a community resource for sustainable development. Problems that are addressed include climate change and a lack of food security. The compound also provides a venue for community groups to meet, hold workshops and carry out other activities and training.
