Previously known as Villanova Boutique Hotel, the new Bishops House was in the throes of renovation when we visited in May 2017, and opened in mid-October 2017.
The hotel is in the busy Rwandan town of Ruhengeri, a 30-minute drive from the headquarters of the Volcanoes National Park – so a good location for gorilla trekking. It aims to provide luxurious accommodation at affordable prices.
Our view of Bishops House
We are always excited by the arrival of a new high-end hotel close to the Volcanoes National Park. Bishops House looks set to offer comfortable accommodation with a colonial feel, and is a welcome addition to the area.
While it lacks the space and serenity of several of the lodges around the park, it may be a good choice if you would prefer to stay in a smart hotel in a bustling town, close to shops and local amenities.
